yoga
Yoga is ancient and broad system of harmonizing body and mind in order to experience the freedom of "just being". Although the paths of Yoga are many, most well known in modern culture is the practice of awareness through asana, pranayama and meditation. While these three branches ultimately overlap in progress, simply put, they work from gross to subtle. Asana focuses on strengthening and relaxing the physical body, pranayama on soothing the nervous system and meditation on focusing and quieting mental activity. As body and mind merge, inner fragmentation and conflict lessen, leaving one with a feeling of wholeness and inner peace. As a discipline that has its roots in the Chinese martial arts, our program includes beautiful forms from the White Crane, Praying Mantis, Tiger, Monkey, and Drunken Boxing systems – just to name a few. Classes are tailored to maximize personal growth and promote excellent physical fitness, though students of any background and fitness level will find immense benefits in this program. Our goal is to see each student reach his or her highest potential; as we all grow together, we succeed together.

awareness through movement®
In Awareness Through Movement® (ATM), Sharon verbally guides you through a sequence of gentle movements intended to develop a greater awareness of how you move. As you learn to let go of limiting habits, you will find satisfaction in your newfound abilities. In addition to increased mobility, after experiencing ATM lessons, people often express feelings of relaxation and ease. They may breathe more freely and find their thoughts have more clarity. Each lesson taught in this ongoing weekly class is gentle and easy enough for everyone regardless of ability or previous knowledge to participate. While the class is structured to accommodate folks who wish to drop in for a single class at any time, it is also designed to flow week to week.
